Economics overhaul
No issues for this version
RELENG_2_1¶
RELENG_2_1 will introduce a new economics system. This system will help open up numerous in-game possibilities such as trade routes, bartering, farming, crafting, mining, and bank robberies.
Centralized account data storage¶
Account balances will be moved out of individual player character data files and into a central repository. This will provide the mudlib with an easy means of accessing this data. Access to this data will enable options such as:- Banks charging fees for their services
- Account balances earning interest
- Automatic deposits and withdrawals
- Bank robberies
Multiple currencies and denominations¶
Each city state can have it's own currency. Opens up non-monetary forms of currency and trade opportunities.
The initial system is expected to have four currencies:- Gold Standard
- Poker Chips
- Livestock
- Trade Goods
The Gold Standard includes coinage you would expect to see most anywhere: gold, silver, copper, and the occasional platinum and electrum.
The Poker Chip currency is utilized by the gaming houses.
The Livestock currency is commonly used by peasents and farmers as a form of bartering. Livestock denominations include chickens, hogs, oxen, dairy cows, goats, horses, and so on.
The Trade Goods currency will include denominations such as wine, honey, and various spices, metal ores, and so on.

RELENG_2_3¶
RELENG_2_3 incorporate improvements to the geography of the world.
Some of the improvements will include:
- Elevation data added to terrain
- The various 'Chasms' in the overland map will be filled in
- A*-based path finding will be incorporated
Traveling the overland/world map will consume stamina and players will no longer be able to run across the ocean or other bodies of water as if it were solid ground.
Mass transit options will be made available to assist characters who wish to travel long distances across the world map. Options will include horse-drawn coaches, sailing vessels, barges, the occasional teleportation portal, and so on.
Character wishing to cross the ocean will either have to board a ship, charter a boat, work on their Seafaring skill, be of a water-borne race, etceteras.
RELENG_2_4
Player Housing
No issues for this version
RELENG_2_4¶
RELENG_2_4 will introduce player housing. Player characters will be able to purchase property or rent apartments within the various cities and villages.
Player housing will give players a place to store their equipment and relax.
Houses and apartments can be broken into and looted. Characters that are storing valuables within their dwellings will want to purchase upgrades for their dwellings such as reinforced doors, strong locks, magical wards, and so on to protect their domain and discourage intruders.
Players will be able to describe their own dwellings.
One of the goals is to allow players to purchase apartment complexes and become landlords.
This enhancement to the game may lead to further development in the future such as allowing characters to control fiefdoms or become the major political power of a city/village/kingdom.
